Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 726 -- EMERGENCY SERVICES DAY

SPONSOR:  Childers (Gaskill)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Public Safety, Law Enforcement and Veteran Affairs by a vote of
20 to 0.

This bill changes Emergency Services Day from November 28 to
September 11.  Emergency Services Day is a day set apart as a day
of appreciation, respect, and gratitude for all public safety
personnel, including police, firefighters, ambulance personnel,
emergency dispatchers, and corrections officers.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that September 11 is a more
appropriate date than November 28 to recognize and honor
emergency personnel.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Childers.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
